  1. Stetson Bennett, the quarterback who led the Bulldogs to their second straight national championship, was arrested in Dallas, TX yesterday and charged with public intoxication. Police responded to reports of Bennett, 25, banging on doors in a community of townhomes near downtown Dallas. Bennett went to the city's detention center and didn't comment on the incident. (ABC News)
  2. Sen. Brandon Beach gave the Rotary Club of Canton an update on Jan. 27 regarding the Georgia General Assembly’s current legislative session. Several people showed up at the civic club’s weekly meeting. Beach shared an overview of anticipated legislation, such as the Governor’s proposed income and property tax refunds to bills focused on reducing violent crime in Atlanta. (Canton-Sixes Patch)
  3. Cherokee County Commissioners met for two days at Thrive Coworking in downtown Canton to discuss the county's short-term and long-term needs and plans. At the annual retreat, commissioners listened to several department and agency directors. An open discussion included making an ordinance for the package liquor sales and sales tax initiatives.   4. Congratulations to Livi Avila, the 2023 Support Staff Employee of the Year for Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy!
