Basement Blaze Burns Canton Home

Fire crews found heavy smoke and flames coming the Canton house's basement when they arrived.

CANTON, GA — A Red Gate Terrace home was heavily damaged in a fire Sunday night, Cherokee County fire officials said Monday.

The blaze happened around 10:45 p.m. Crews found heavy smoke and flames coming the house's basement upon arrival, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services said.

After a search, fire officials said they did not find anyone inside the burning home.
