Canton Man Dies In Workplace Accident

Federal officials will be investigating the incident to see if any safety standards were violated, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office said.

CANTON, GA — Federal officials have been called in to investigate a fatal workplace accident reported Thursday morning in Cherokee County. Deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a call of a person injured around 8 a.m. Sept. 13 at East Gate Pallet.

Officials arrived at the site at 150 Bobo Trail near Holly Springs to discover a 20-year-old employee had been "involved in what appears to be a workplace accident involving a table saw," said sheriff's office spokesperson Jay Baker.

Baker said the man, identified as Tabor Daniel Hayes, was pronounced dead at the scene. While CSO detectives are investigating the incident, no foul play is suspected.

Baker said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been informed of the accident, and will be investigating to determine if any safety conditions were violated.
