  1. On Thursday, Jan. 19, the Mayor of Canton will give his annual State of the City Address. City of Canton Mayor Bill Grant will speak at the City Council Meeting, which will be held at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. You can attend in person, or view the entire meeting online.   2. In March, the state of Georgia's abortion laws will go to the courts. The Georgia Supreme Court will discuss adopting a law based on one that has just been approved in South Carolina. The South Carolina Supreme Court has ruled that banning abortion after six weeks violates the state's constitutional right to privacy. The decision came down two days after the FDA announced that more pharmacies across the country will be able to provide abortion pills. (The Augusta Chronicle)
  3. A Canton woman who died in a freak horse accident is being memorialized in a race. Breanna Chadwick, 20, was killed in a rodeo event in Jul. 2022 after a horse ran into a gate and struck her. "Bree's Mile of Memories" will be held at Jan. 21 at Etowah River Park in Canton to honor Chadwick and her love of running. (WSB Atlanta)
  4. Get ready to celebrate local film and filmmakers! The Woodstock Arts Film Festival will be held in nearby Woodstock on Jan. 21 starting at 12:00 p.m. This will be the inaugural film festival.
