Canton Teacher Honored By Kennesaw State University

Dr. Judy A. Wright, a Gifted/STEM lab teacher is a nominee for the KSU Distinguished Alumni Award.

A Canton Elementary School STEM Academy teacher is being honored by Kennesaw State University!

Dr. Judy A. Wright, a Gifted/STEM lab teacher, is the Bagwell College of Education’s nominee for the KSU Distinguished Alumni Award.

She and the other Colleges’ nominees will be recognized at an upcoming University-wide ceremony, at which an overall KSU winner will be named.

Since beginning her teaching career more than 11 years ago. Dr. Wright has earned numerous honors including being named Canton ES STEM Academy’s 2014 Teacher of the Year by her peers and winning a 2015 Maley/FTEE Technology and Engineering Teacher Scholarship sponsored by the Foundation for Technology and Engineering Educator. Her work with colleagues at Canton ES STEM Academy also has won the school numerous grants from the Rotary Club of Canton and Cherokee County Educational Foundation.

She has collaborated with the Smithsonian Institution Center for Education and Museum Studies, co-authored research studies published in the Education Resource Information Center and presented at conferences including the Eastern Educational Research Association Conference, EdTech Conference and Georgia Educational Technology Conference.

Dr. Wright, who also teaches classes at KSU, earned her bachelor’s in education, educational specialist and doctorate degrees from KSU, and her master’s and specialist degrees from Piedmont College.
