CCSD Preschool Celebrates Foundation Honoring Former Student
The Christian Egner Foundation, named for a student who passed away, has raised funds for playground equipment and literacy programs.
CANTON, GA — The Ralph Bunche Center in Canton, a preschool center in the Cherokee County School District, celebrated an important school partner this week with a ribbon cutting.
The Christian Egner Foundation, named for a student who passed away, raises funds to benefit the Center and other programs in the community that serve special needs children.
The organization on Thursday was joined by the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the school's playground.

The ceremony included special singing by students and guests. The Foundation has made donations to the Center that have funded playground equipment, a tricycle track, and literacy programs, among other giving.

As part of Thursday's celebration, the Center added another feature to the playground: a smiles rock garden, with rocks hand-painted by students. The Foundation on Oct. 6 will host the third annual Smile Run 5K, Fun Run & Tot Trot at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at Etowah River Park.
The race honors Christian, who died in the fall of 2015 due to complications from asthma. Christian attended the Canton-based preschool center, and proceeds from the race will benefit the school. You can learn more about the race by visiting its website.
