CCSD Students Selected For Atlanta High School Art Exhibition

More than 800 entries were received from 83 high schools.

Six Cherokee County School District student artists have been selected for the Atlanta High School Art Exhibition!

The exhibition is presented by Arts Festival of Atlanta to recognize and encourage high school student artists from the 12-country metro Atlanta region.

More than 800 entries were received from 83 high schools. Selected students’ work also will be judged with the possibility of earning additional awards and recognition.

Artwork by four CCSD students has been selected for the main show at Piedmont Park from April 14-16. They are: Etowah HS senior Scarleth Cantarero Murillo for “Childhood” (art teacher: Shannah Dean); Woodstock HS freshman Maggie Fielder for “Fallen Leaf” (art teacher: Lori Thompson); Sequoyah HS sophomore Jacey Frye for “The Vibrance of Music” (art teacher: Lauren Holtzer); Creekview HS senior Connor Vitak for “Blossom and Bloom” (art teacher: Leslie Babcock)

Artwork by two CCSD students has been selected for the satellite show at Limelight Gallery at Binders from April 2-May 1. They are: Etowah HS sophomore Madison Fowler for “My Face” (art teacher: Joshua Saye); and Creekview HS senior Gabrielle Palzewicz for “Self-Contemplation” (art teacher: Leslie Babcock).

“Congratulations to these artists and our art teachers for achieving this impressive accomplishment,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower. “The School Board and I believe in the value that the fine arts adds to our students’ educational opportunities, whether they eventually pursue the arts as a career or a hobby. We’re so proud to see talent being developed at such a high level in our students.”
