  2. The City of Canton will be hosting the Public Art Master Plan Workshop tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 2) from 4 to 6 p.m. at Reformation Brewery at The Mill on Etowah. The goal of the Canton Public Art Master Plan is to "create a roadmap for how we begin to activate our many communities to implement and enjoy public art while also celebrating Canton's spirit and artistic expressions." Attendees at tomorrow's event will be asked to provide their thoughts on the master plan draft recommendations, as well as where they think public art should be placed throughout Canton. 3. Cherokee County School District (CCSD) School Choice Month begins today (Feb. 1). Current CCSD parents can request school reassignments —including enrollment in STEM, STEAM, and Fine Arts Academies as well as the i-Grad Virtual Academy for high schoolers— for the 2023-2024 school year. New student enrollment, which typically kicks off in February, will begin in March to accommodate the district as it builds out a new student registration system. (Cherokee County School District)
  4. Yesterday morning, Canton native Andrew Rosinski announced his commitment to the University of North Carolina. The Creekview High offensive lineman's decision came just days after visiting the university. Rosinski took to social media to thank UNC's coaches and staff for the opportunity, ending with a rallying cry of "Go Tar Heels!" (247sports.com)
  5. Last week, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services (CCFES) Explorer Post 469 traveled to Gatlinburg, TN for the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Winterfest Competition.
