- In case you missed it, a Cherokee County native won season 22 of NBC's "The Voice." Bryce Leatherwood, 22, of Woodstock, won the reality television singing competition on Tuesday evening. The country singer received $100,000 and a record deal with Universal for his win, which he dedicated his family, friends and supporters. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News via Facebook)
- New homes have been listed for sale in the Canton-Sixes area. Available properties range from a 2,086 square-foot, three-bed, three-bath home for $415,000 to a $503,030 home with four beds, three baths, and 2,506 square feet. Get all the property details at the link. (Canton-Sixes Patch)
- Georgia Republican Danny Rampey, who ran unopposed in the November election for a seat in the state's House of Representatives, has been arrested. Investigators say Rampey allegedly stole prescribed narcotics from senior citizens at the Magnolia Estates of Winder Assisted Living Center where he serves as manager. Court records show Rampey was arrested on 19 charges, including burglary, exploitation of an elderly or disabled person, obtaining a controlled substance by theft, and more. (Business Insider)
- Georgia State University has landed wide receiver Jacari Carter. Originally with Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts, Carter announced he will transfer on Saturday evening. The football player wrote on Twitter, "Committed, can't wait to be a part of [Coach Shawn Elliot's] special culture down in the ATL!" (247Sports)
- A Georgia Tech Professor has created a tool to reduce the risk of burns during surgery. Professor James Rains, co-founder of Jackson Medical, and his team have created the "GloShield" which is a flexible, ceramic-fitted heat shield which covers the end of the light cable used during surgery. The light cable can get as hot as 500 degrees. The GloShield has already been used in more than 100,000 surgeries. (Georgia Tech News Center)
