“The intern selected will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a municipal planning staff with more than six decades of combined experience. He/she will also get to experience the full process of developing an ordinance from the very beginning to the presentation and consideration of the Board of Commissioners.”
The ideal candidate is a currently enrolled college or university graduate student actively pursuing a master’s degree in public administration, planning, architecture, public policy, or a similar field, with an interest in working in local government. Community Development Agency leadership is looking for a candidate whose future career focus is in municipal planning, housing or public management. The ideal candidate has excellent researching and presentation skills.
Through a partnership with Association County Commissioners of Georgia, the paid internship is part-time, up to 29 hours per week from June 1 through Aug. 11 (dates are flexible).
The intern will work under the supervision of the Planning and Zoning Department, researching, studying and developing an Accessory Dwelling Unit ordinance to present to the Board of Commissioners. Training and direction on the process of developing an ADU ordinance will be provided. The deadline to apply is March 31. Interviews will be held, and an offer to the finalist will be made in April.
