- Canton police are investigating whether two human remains are connected after being found in the same area months apart. A property owner was clearing overgrown vegetation when he found remains near the Waleska Street bridge. In June, remains were found in the same location, and police charged Jacob Huckabay with the murder. (Fox 5)
- Cherokee County teachers and staff received positive news just in time for the holidays. The School Board approved mid-year bonuses and hopes to increase salaries next year. Full-time employees will receive $1,000 one-time supplemental payments, and part-time staff will receive $500 to show appreciation for their service to the school district. - The Towne Lake Rotary Club Foundation donated $4,730 to the Ferst Readers of Cherokee County, which will provide books to more than 130 children for the year. The Ferst Readers program donates books and a corresponding newsletter to children from birth to 5-years-old every month. The program has benefited 240 children in Cherokee County. - A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit by a woman who claimed she was raped in Cherokee County jail. The former inmate filed the case over the summer and said the incident happened in October 2020 by a deputy. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
