Cherokee County Unveils Transportation Plan Survey

Officials say responses will help inform what transportation projects and priorities the county puts forward.

Cherokee County's growth has put new demands on the current and future transportation networks. Cherokee Moves, the updated Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP), will help with decisions on funding, prioritizing and programming transportation projects.

CANTON, GA —Cherokee County is in the process of updating its Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP), and officials on Tuesday introduced a 26-question online survey designed to help them gain the public's input during the process.

The updated CTP - called Cherokee Moves - is necessary, officials said, because Cherokee County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the metro Atlanta area, with a population that has doubled in the last 20 years.

"With that growth, comes new demands on the current and future transportation networks," officials said in a statement introducing the survey. "(Resident) input will help inform what transportation projects and priorities the county puts forward."

  • How much people drive
  • The modes of transportation they use
  • Satisfaction levels with certain area roads
  • Satisfaction with other modes of transportation (public transportation and bicycle paths)
  • What the county should prioritize in transportation-related public works projects
  • Likely support for different funding methods for those projects
  • Transportation-improvement priorities in different areas of the county
