Celebrate Georgia Cities Week by learning about what goes on behind the scenes, helping to make Canton the amazing city it is. Drop by whenever you'd like from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and visit the different booths to learn about the city's Roadmap for Success, the services and resources available through the city and the staff that helps keep things on track. The walk, "History Factory: A Day on the Trail with Eva Gumbert and Katy Ross," will bring you down a private trail along the river as you learn about the native plants in the area and what they've been used for historically. You'll even get a plant to bring home with you. The trail is about a mile long, and it is considered moderately difficult terrain. Consider joining History Cherokee for discounted admission to their fascinating talks, exhibits and events, you can find information on membership at the link. (History Cherokee)
  3. The Cherokee County Water & Sewerage Authority (CCWSA) is moving forward with the construction of a disinfection system at the Rose Creek water treatment plant. The approval of a $3.3 million system development contract and a $370,232 construction management contract came on Monday during a CCWSA board meeting contract came on Monday. The budget is set at $4.6 million for the UV disinfection system. The UV system allows for UV light to replace chemical disinfection techniques currently used by the authority.
