  1. The city of Canton is looking for a creative/digital content specialist to join the team. The candidate would plan and create written and visual content for the city's email campaigns, website, newsletters, social media channels, public relations, video projects and more. The perfect candidate will have a strong knowledge of marketing and content management systems, a degree in communications, journalism or a related field and an understanding of and experience with marketing and communication strategies.   2. Cherokee County School District (CCSD) students earned top three spots in the 2023 Congressional Art Competition for Georgia's 11th Congressional District. The artwork for the competition was displayed at The Downtown Gallery in Cartersville, and an independent panel of judges chose the winners from the 32 pieces of art submitted by eight different schools. Students from River Ridge High School took the top two spots - Ashley McMath won first place and Samantha Swift came in second. Emily Coburn from Woodstock High School won third place.   3. Our area YMCA is holding a Healthy Kids Day Saturday and it's free fun for the whole family! The event marks the beginning of camp season at the Y and highlights healthy activities and the services and programs offered at the YMCA. The event will feature a live DJ, family yoga demos, kids obstacle courses and inflatables, healthy snacks and drinks, water and swimming safety demos and YMCA program demos and activities at the G.   • Rock Wall Climbing Zone: open to county residents ages 4 and up and 40-pounds and over at The Buzz, 7345 Cumming Highway. (3 - 6:30 p.m.)

  • Adult Animal Happy Hour: for adults only, hang out with the animals and enjoy a drink or two at Hidden Acres Animal Sanctuary, 208 Deer Run. (5:30 - 7 p.m.)
  • Factor VIII: the band will be playing live tonight at The Mill on Etowah, 225 Reformation Parkway. (7 - 9 p.m.)

  • Duquette Johnston: as a closer for the opening night of the Peaberry Film Festival, attendance at the musical performance requires you to have or purchase tickets to the festival.   • With the end of the month coming up in a couple days, there are a couple important items to keep in mind.
    • Library fine forgiveness from the Sequoyah Regional Library System (SRLS) is being offered through tomorrow. You can get up to $15 forgiven at your local SRLS library, though some fees may not be eligible.
    • Small business funding via the Cherokee Small Business Grant is available, and the application window closes Sunday at noon. Businesses with 500 employees or less that have been impacted by the pandemic can apply for up to $30,000 in grant funds.
  • Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News: "Students from Indian Knoll Elementary School took home the trophy at the recent Cherokee County School District Elementary School Academic Bowl." (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News via Facebook)
