Creekview Students Tour New Northside Hospital Cherokee

The private tour offered students an opportunity to learn about different career paths in the health field.

From Northside Hospital Cherokee: Northside Hospital Cherokee welcomed Creekview High School Healthcare Program students to visit and tour the new facility on April 20 for a behind-the-scenes look at what operating a healthcare system entails.

Through Northside Hospital Cherokee’s community partnership with Creekview, students have spent the past semester at the old Northside facility working alongside an assigned patient care technician (PCT).

Creekview’s Healthcare Program combines three years of healthcare course training of clinical, physiological and business skills with a final semester of hands-on shadowing through a local PCT.

“When a student is able to pair the course work and experiential learning, they gain a greater appreciation and understanding of the demands and rigor of that particular career,” said Ashely Jones, Senior Medical Services Instructor of Creekview High School.

The private tour offered students the opportunity to explore different fields that the Healthcare Program track can take—becoming a nurse, doctor, physician’s assistant and even bio-medical engineer.
