Here are the top stories today in Canton-Sixes:

  1. The Canton City Council voted to allowed in city parks at their meeting on May 19. The code has been amended to "allow for the use of Class 1 and 2 electric bicycles in city parks." Also included in the approved amendment was the clarifying statement that personal mobility vehicles are not considered motorized vehicles - that was not included in the wording of the code prior. You can read the amendment in full here. (Canton City News)
  2. If you would like to have a hand in the creation of the future Hickory Flat Area Park, you can do that through a survey the county set up to collect our feedback. The county not only wants to hear our thoughts on the park, they have offered transparency through the official Hickory Flat Area Park Master Plan website. According to the project timeline, the site assessment has been completed for the 40-acre property, the public input meeting was held last week, and now, the county has presented us a survey to find out what facilities we would like to see in the park. You can complete the survey and watch the project timeline move forward here, we have until June 15. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks)
  3. The Alternative Baseball Organization's baseball game scheduled for today has been postponed due to the possibility of storms in the area. No further details have been posted at this time about a future date. I'll update the listing here once the event date is released, it's going to be such a fun day, be sure not to miss it. Members of the Cherokee Sheriff's Office will be participating in the baseball game in support of teens and adults with disabilities. The free game will also include local leaders and celebrities in the 7-inning exhibition game. (Cherokee Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
