🌱 Fatal Crash Kills Local + Senior Center Closes Due To COVID-19

Here are the top five stories in Canton-Sixes today:
- On Jul. 14, a crash on I-575 northbound by the Sixes Road exit claimed the life of Tessa Bower, a 57-year-old Canton woman. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office traffic unit worked with Holly Springs authorities and the crash is still under investigation. (CBS 46 News)
- Cherokee County Senior Services, a senior activity center, has temporarily closed after several people tested positive for COVID-19. On Jul. 14, the facility's director, Senior Service Director Tim Morris, said it quickly went from one case to ten, and he hopes the center will reopen later this month. (Canton-Sixes Patch)
- The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office decided to ship 32-year-old Jeffrey Merriweather's body via FedEx to a specialized lab in St. Louis to examine the remains in 2019. More than three years later and the remains are still missing. A FedEx spokesperson said, "Our thoughts and concerns remain with the family of Mr. Merriweather, however, we request that further questions be directed to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office. Shipments of this nature are prohibited within the FedEx network." The remains were last tracked to a FedEx facility in Austell, Georgia, which has a history of being a "black hole" for packages. - Family members of 20-year-old Breanna Leigh Chadwick, who was killed in a freak accident at a rodeo in Chatsworth on Jul. 8, said she "always had a beautiful smile and was full of sass." The Canton native was attending Reinhardt University and planned to be a third-grade teacher. Her family said "she loved all kids and they loved her." (The Chattanoogan)
- The Cherokee County Health Department will host a back-to-school health clinic on Tuesdays to help families prepare for the upcoming school year. School-aged children can conveniently complete all of their school health requirements at an affordable price. (CBS 46 News)
