Cherokee Crash Kills Man In Burning Car

CANTON, GA — A fiery two-vehicle crash killed a man Wednesday afternoon at Knox Bridge Highway near Fieldstone Drive, authorities said.

Deputies responded to the deadly crash around 12:30 p.m., according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

A Chevrolet truck was consumed with flames, and the truck's driver was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The man was not identified, pending next-of-kin notification.

The driver of the Dodge truck, involved in the crash, drove a short distance away from the scene before stopping to call 911, authorities said. The driver was not injured, authorities said.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigating the cause of the crash. Authorities said no one had been charged as of late Wednesday afternoon.
