The Commission recently awarded $607,406 to the City of Canton to be used for the River Mill District Bridge project. Recreation impact fees, current Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds, and tax allocation district funds will reportedly provide an additional $1.4 million in funding. The bridge will be built from the trail connector from Heritage Park to Boling Park (currently under construction), across the Etowah River to the west side, according to Canton City Manager Billy Peppers.
