- The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is asking for our help locating a wanted person. Hal Beaumont Beacham, 41, is described as white, 5-foot-11 and 250 pounds and he's got over 30 warrants out for him, including multiple charges of theft by taking, criminal damage to property and criminal trespassing. Aside from the slew of felony and misdemeanor charges out of Bartow County, Beacham is suspected of committing more felony-level thefts in Cherokee. If you have information on the suspect's location, please contact the sheriff at 911, you can see his picture at the link. (Membership: Cherokee Sheriff's Office via Facebook and Free: WSB-TV)
- A man from Canton tragically passed away after he was hit by a truck on Marietta Highway. The victim, Luis Tercero Loarca, was standing in the road when he was struck by a silver Ford truck around 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday. The driver of the truck was not injured, and there was no mention of charges made. (Canton-Sixes Patch)
- Three employees at Avery Elementary School saved a student's life last week. The 9-year-old student was eating a mint in class when he started choking. His teacher, Jessica Kelley, performed the Heimlich maneuver immediately, but couldn't dislodge the mint. A school counselor, Kathy McNamara, and another teacher, Heather Garrett, also tried, finally getting the mint to move out of the child's airway. Thanks to the heroic efforts of all involved, the child recovered and was back in school the next day. (Subscription: Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)

There was an adorable conversation between the two, we got a souvenir fire helmet and off we went. We now have a very happy kid who will have a very good career day tomorrow. Thank you so much!
