- A former deputy at the Cherokee Sheriff's Office has been accused of sexual assault. Richard Gilleland has been indicted by a grand jury for sexually assaulting one inmate, and counts alleging a second victim. Gilleland was a former officer at the Cherokee County jail. He has been charged with four counts each of sexual assault against an inmate at a correctional facility, and violation of oath by a public officer. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News via Facebook)
- Sergeant Lilley of the Canton Police Department has reached an impressive career milestone! Lilley has been working with the agency for seven years. - The Cherokee County 2023 State of the County Address has been scheduled for Jan. 25 of 2023. The address will run from 11:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. It will be held at the Cherokee Conference Center off Bluffs Parkway in Canton. There will be several guest speakers at the event.
