- A Cherokee County man was arrested for dog fighting. Randall Larry Thaxton was taken into custody last week after the marshal's office conducted a welfare check on his animals. Nine dogs were removed from his property and taken to the Cherokee County Animal Shelter. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- A former Atlanta police officer was sentenced to 50 years in prison for raping a Cherokee County woman. Lionel Joseph Dely, 33, was sentenced at the end of November after the woman made a report in February. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- The mayor of Emerson and his wife were killed in a car accident in Cherokee County over the weekend. A vehicle crossed the center line on Knox Bridge Highway and caused the mayor to lose control. A man was arrested for the fatal accident. (WSBTV)
- A Cherokee County couple was sad to see their rescued dog go. Brady and Alex went to Mexico and rescued an emaciated dog. They were able to find a loving home for the dog in Canada and cried when the dog went to its new home. (Subscription: Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
