  1. A gas leak on Monday afternoon on River Green Avenue led to traffic, delays, and the evacuation of a nearby school. The area of River Green Avenue between Brooks Drive and Retreat Lane was closed for about four hours. Students from River Green Academy were quickly removed from the area. Crews worked to repair the gas leak and traffic had returned to normal by 5:41 p.m. No injuries have been reported as a result of the gas leak, although several families were evacuated while the leak was fixed.   2. The Cherokee Humane Society has plenty of adoptable cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes. As the weather turns bitter, you can bring an animal in from the cold!
