  1. Gekko Kitchen, an Asian restaurant, will be coming to Canton by Jan. 1. The new restaurant, serving everything from hibachi to sushi to poke, will be across from Community Burger. Gekko Kitchen was originally operated as a food truck by its owner, Jack Bai. (Subscription, Cherokee Tribune Ledger News)
  2. Four men, aged between 19 and 23, pleaded guilty to gang charges in Cherokee County. The men are suspected to be members of the Woodpile gang and were arrested in an incident related to confronting a rival gang outside of a home in Canton back in June of 2021. The men were said to be waving guns while arguing with another man inside the house. (Subscription, The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. The Canton Police Department is seeking the public's help in locating someone wanted for questioning in connection to a shoplifting incident. Authorities have provided a photo of the woman at the Hobby Lobby in Canton on Sep. 15. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Canton PD. (Canton Police Department, GA via Facebook)
  4. On Oct. 26, Cherokee County firefighters and Canton Police Department officers were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. to a residential fire on Glen Echo Falls in Canton. There were five occupants at home at the time of the fire, and all were accounted for and able to escape prior to the arrival of the fire department. The occupants were alerted of the fire when a downstairs window broke and awoke one of the occupants. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
