  1. This Thursday, Gov. Brian Kemp signed an executive order to suspend the state sales tax on gasoline. This will be the seventh and final time the state sales tax will be suspended. This suspension will run through Jan. 10. Once the suspension runs out, Kemp will turn to the legislature to provide support and tax relief to the citizens of the Atlanta metro and the entire state of Georgia. 2. On Wednesday, Jan. 25, Cherokee County will hold its 2023 State of the County Address. The event will be held at the Cherokee Conference Center off Bluffs Parkway. There will be numerous guest speakers, including Dr. Brian Hightower, Superintendent of Cherokee County School District, Misti Martin the CEO of the Cherokee Office of Economic Development, and many more. The event is sponsored by the Council for Quality Growth. (Cherokee County, Georgia via Facebook)
  3. The Grinch recently stopped by the Cherokee County Animal Shelter! Although the Grinch is known for being grumpy, he has a soft spot for rescue animals (like his own beloved pooch, Max). The shelter is just one stop on the Grinch's list in Cherokee County; he also got deputized at the Cherokee Marshall's Office and is scheduled for a visit at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center this weekend.
