  1. A Canton resident was honored at the Trans Day of Remembrance vigil held at Freedom Plaza on Monday. Hundreds of people gathered in the freezing weather to pay tribute to the many trans individuals who have been lost to violence, transphobic hatred, and suicide. Part of the memorial involves naming fallen members of the trans community; among those remembered was Kathryn "Katie" Newhouse, a Canton resident. (Washington Blade)
  2. A Cherokee County home burned down Saturday night. Police responded to the fire on Fletcher Drive to find the house in flames. Everyone was able to escape the home uninjured, but the property sustained heavy damage. As of Monday evening, officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.   3. On Dec. 1, the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Good Morning Cherokee. This networking event allows business professionals to meet and make valuable connections.   4. US Marshalls have captured a metro Atlanta man wanted on child molestation charges after a chase that spanned 11 years. Charles Rainey, 71, has been on the run since December 2011, when he was charged with aggravated child molestation and sexual battery. He had been hiding out in Kingston, Jamaica, when he was taken into custody. He was deported and returned to Atlanta. (U.S. Marshals Service)
