Here are the top stories in Canton-Sixes today:

  1. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is asking us to keep an eye out for a missing man. Riley Shaw, 26, was last seen on May 1 at his home near West Oaks Drive and Hames Road. His vehicle was last seen on May 4 at 8:49 a.m. on Highway 92, going towards Acworth. The vehicle, a 2014 Volkswagen Passat, and a picture of Shaw can be seen at the link. The missing man is described as white, 6-foot-3 inches tall and 190 pounds. If you have any information on this case, please contact the sheriff at 770-928-0239 or 911. 2. Leaders from across the nation attended a recent leadership program in Canton, with courses focusing on building trust, evaluating performance, team leadership, conflict resolution and more. The five-day "Succeeding as a Supervisor" program was attended by 29 supervisors, managers and other leaders, as well as City of Canton employees. The city is planning already to be the host city for a fall 2023 program. (Subscription: Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
  3. The Canton City Council heard updates on some of the Canton Housing Authority's projects last week. Of note, Tanner Place construction is projected to begin in October with the demolition of 39 units on Shipp Street. Eventually, there will be 70 new homes in their place, the projected completion date there is December 2024 at a cost of around $24 million. The Oakside redevelopment project will start around November, and 75 units will be demolished and replaced with 75 new homes. The Oakside project is expected to tie up in early 2025.
