Man Shoots At Homeowner In Canton: Cops

Canton police said the bat-wielding homeowner chased a person accused of entering autos early Thursday on Oconee Way.

CANTON, GA — The Canton Police Department is searching for the subject who fired a gun at a homeowner who caught the unknown person entering vehicles early Thursday morning.

Officers were dispatched around 4:15 a.m. Jan. 24 to a report of entering auto incidents on Oconee Way, which is located off Prominence Point Parkway.

Cops were told by dispatchers that someone "fired several shots while driving away at a homeowner who chased the perpetrator with a baseball bat and then struck the suspect vehicle as it fled the scene."

Officers arrived to find a bullet hole in the homeowner's garage and holes in nearby vehicles. They also discovered shell casings lying in the road near the home of the caller. All vehicles in the area that were entered into were unlocked Canton police added.

The alleged perpetrator fled the scene in a maroon sedan passenger vehicle, which had damage to its driver's side door and window area. No other details were provided about the subject's description.
