- The family of a 20-year-old Canton woman who died in a horse accident is putting on a horse race in her memory. “Bree’s Miles of Memories” will be on Jan. 21 at Etowah River Park in Canton and was inspired by Chadwick’s love for running. A horse ran into a gate at a rodeo event in July 2022, hitting and killing Breanna Chadwick. (WSB Atlanta)
- Devin Willock, a University of Georgia football player, and recruiting staff member Chandler LeCroy were killed in a car accident in Athens over the weekend. The crash occurred before 3:00 a.m. on Sunday when LeCroy drove off Barnett Shoals Road, hitting power poles and trees. Willock died at the scene, and LeCroy was rushed to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Two other unnamed individuals were also in the vehicle and suffered from non-life-threatening injuries. (News10NBC)
- After four months of repairs, the beloved restaurant Williamson Brothers Bar-B-Q in Canton is looking to open between mid-February and March. In October, a fire broke out in the storage room of the building, leading to a temporary closure. (Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
- Four finalists have been chosen for the Service League of Cherokee County's annual Heritage of Hope Award. The organization chose Josh Bagby, Julie Darnell, Juvenile Court Judge Jennifer Davis, and Michele Prance as finalists for the award, which honors an individual making significant contributions to children in the community through their time, actions, talents, and dedication.
