- According to the Canton Police Department, needles were found in candy given out in the Great Sky neighborhood on Halloween. Resident Leslie Thames reported she found a sewing needle sticking out of a piece of candy collected by her daughter. No one was hurt, but police warn residents to ensure candy has not been tampered with before consuming it. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- A man has been arrested following the attempted armed robbery at a vape shop near Canton. Brandon McMahon, 18, pointed a weapon at a shop clerk before telling the clerk that it was a joke performed "for YouTube." As of Friday afternoon, McMahon remained in custody. - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned of a rise in upper respiratory viruses, like the flu or RSV. The CDC has also warned the Southeast has one of the highest levels of flu activity. In combination with the continued spread of COVID-19, hospitals are at risk of being overcrowded this winter.
