New Officer Joins Canton Police Department

John Van KInts was sworn in to service on Friday, Dec. 21.

CANTON, GA — Another new face has joined the Canton Police Department. The agency last week held a swearing-in ceremony for John Van Kints.

Kints was sworn in to the department by Municipal Court Judge Darrell Caudill on Friday, Dec. 21 at the Canton Municipal Court.

Family, friends and other members of the Canton Police Department staff were in attendance to show their support.

The newest addition to the department is a recent graduate of GPSTC - Pickens Law Enforcement Academy, which conducts the Basic Police Officer Training program and selected advanced and specialized training courses on occasion.

According to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center's website, candidates who meet all prerequisites can enroll in the 408-hour Basic Law Enforcement Training program at GPSTC Pickens. This program is typically taught four times a year at GPSTC Pickens.
