- The Canton Police Department has released a picture of an individual who is suspected of using stolen bank cards. The cards were taken from a vehicle and then used at the RaceTrac on Cumming Highway and Chevron on Marietta Road here in Canton. The suspect was driving an older model blue Jeep Grand Cherokee. The police encourage anyone with further information to contact Detective Fulenwider by calling 770-720-4883 or emailing erin.fulenwider@cantonga.gov. The reference case number 202205577. - The Canton City Council met yesterday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. for a council meeting to discuss various issues around the city. The meeting agenda covered public hearings for Park Village office and industrial uses; rezoning and conditional use permits for multifamily and duplex uses; changes to the City’s Plant Palette and Trees in the Overlay Zone; and discussions on several task orders, which included a pedestrian project on Riverstone. - The holiday season is officially underway here in Canton, and there's a lot happening downtown over the next month! For the next three Saturdays*, you can visit Santa Claus at the Cannon Park Gazebo from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Next weekend, mark your calendar for the downtown Christmas in Canton celebration (Dec. 9 at 6:00 p.m.) and the Merry Market and Parade (Dec. 10 at 2:00 p.m.) And, of course, you won't want to miss the film screenings and productions at the historic Canton Theater throughout the season. - Wreaths Across America is hosting an observance ceremony on Dec. 17. The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, in Canton, and will be followed by the public wreath laying. Remembrance Wreaths will be laid on an expected 22,000 graves of veterans. Each of their names will be said aloud at this cemetery. - The City of Canton gave an early heads-up to the community that all of its offices will be closed for the full week after the Christmas holiday (Dec. 26 through Dec. 30) plus the day after New Year's (Jan. 2).
