'Pickin' & Grinnin'' Celebrates Southern Appalachia Music
The Cherokee County Historical Society's free event will be held Tuesday, Aug. 15 in Canton.
CANTON, GA -- Residents are invited to join the Cherokee County Historical Society for a night of music straight out of the southern Appalachia region of the United States.
Local musicians Katie Cagle and Joseph Kuykendall will cover the history of bluegrass through song from the pre-Revolutionary War era to the mid-to-late 20th century, focusing on Georgia artists like Fiddlin' John Carson, Lee Roy Abernathy, the Skillet Lickers, and Wally Fowler of the Oak Ridge Quartet.
Pickin’ and Grinnin’ will take place at the historic Rock Barn at 658 Marietta Highway in Canton.

The event is free and open to the public. As part of the event, the organization will be offering a one night only discounted membership price of $10 for new members. Refreshments will be provided, and attendees are asked to RSVP to 770-345-3288 or mquinlan@rockbarn.org.
