Road Closure Planned Thursday In Canton

Authorities say the roadwork shouldn't take more than 90 minutes and offer a few detours.

CANTON, GA — Street closures in Canton will cause traffic delays Thursday morning. A release from the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency says East Main Street will be closed between Britt Street and Muriel Street.

They'll be doing sewer maintenance between 9 and 10:30 a.m., causing the closure.

The Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency suggests these routes:

Traffic heading east from downtown on E. Main St:

  • Take a right on Dr. John T Pettit to Cherokee Street
  • Take a left on Cherokee St. and follow around Hospital Circle to Jeanette Street
  • Take Jeanette Street to E. Main Street and take a right

Traffic heading west from I-575 on E. Main Street:

  • Take a left of Jeanette Street to Hospital Circle
  • Take a right on Hospital Circle to Cherokee Street
  • Take Cherokee Street to Dr. John T Pettit
  • Take a right on Dr. John T Pettit to E. Main Street
  • Take a right on E. Main Street
