  1. The Canton Police Department has issued a scam warning about scammers calling citizens, pretending to be officials from the police department or court system. The ruse in play involves the fraudulent caller claiming that the resident owes money for fines, they then demand payment. Don't believe it if someone calls with that story, neither the police department nor the courts will call to collect, demand or ask for money over the phone. Never give out personal information or bank details to a caller. (Canton PD via Facebook)
  2. There are 3,093 students from the Cherokee County School District (CCSD) getting ready to graduate this week. If you're heading over to a ceremony, expect heavy traffic surrounding Woodstock's First Baptist Church during the during graduation ceremonies. There are also pre-graduation activities scheduled at the church before and after each scheduled event, so travel through the area won't be swift. On Thursday, the Cherokee High School ceremony will begin at 8 p.m., the Sequoyah ceremony starts up at 4 p.m. on Friday, and the graduation for Creekview will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Congratulations, seniors! (CCSD News)
  3. All of the kids in Canton have made exceptional efforts this school year and deserve exceptional recognition. The efforts of this year's valedictorians and salutatorians and their parents will be honored at the Annual Scholar Recognition Banquet today. The recognized seniors each chose a favorite teacher to receive kudos along with them, and they'll also be celebrated for their work in cultivating these fine students. Congratulations to Cherokee, Creekview and Sequoyah high school Valedictorians Braden Reece Flournoy, Kylie Buchanan and Julia Allene Sick. Amazing job, Salutatorians Riley Oliver, Carson Heath and Paige Lee Falcomata. (CCSD News)
  4. The county has announced that the intersection at Union Hill Road South and Lower Union Hill Road will be closed from May 30 - July 31 for construction. As part of this project, Union Hill Road North to Lower Union Hill Road will be open with flaggers moving traffic and Old Jones Road will stay open.
