Sen. Beach shared an overview of anticipated legislation, ranging from the Governor’s proposed income and property tax refunds to bills focused on reducing violent crime in Atlanta.

A longtime advocate for transportation improvements, Sen. Beach also gave updates on Georgia Department of Transportation road projects in Cherokee including widening Highway 20 from Canton to Forsyth County and intersection improvements along Highway 140 between Highways 20 and 5.

Sen. Beach said he also will continue his efforts to allow sports betting in athletic venues to increase fan engagement and to allow horse racing to create a new economic engine through both racetracks and the equine industry that supports them.

Plenty of time was left for audience questions, with Rotarians asking about public safety and road projects among other issues. Rotarians also thanked Sen. Beach for his work to support funding public education and to improve local roads.

Club President Nicole Lawson said Tuesday’s program is part of what makes the Rotary Club of Canton unique.

“Our weekly meetings offer outstanding opportunities for members to learn about their community while sharing lunch with their neighbors,” she said. “Our club’s history and size attracts excellent speakers like Sen. Beach, who not only give informative presentations, but also give us the chance to ask them questions and share feedback.”

The Rotary Club of Canton regularly hosts community leaders for its weekly program speakers, and residents interested in joining the club are invited to visit.
