Severe Storms, Isolated Tornadoes Possible For North, Central Georgia
Parts of Georgia are at an 'enhanced risk' for severe storms and isolated tornadoes starting Tuesday, the National Weather Service warned.
CANTON, GA — You may want to keep the rain gear and umbrellas handy beginning Tuesday and try to stay indoors as much as possible.
According to the National Weather Service, most of Georgia has been upgraded to an enhanced risk — level three out of five — for Tuesday afternoon into the evening.
This means several rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms and heavy rain are possible Tuesday through Wednesday evening as a couple of storms move across the region.

Tuesday's primary storm threats include:
- strong to damaging winds greater than 60 mph
- tornadoes
- up to one-inch hail
- heavy rain (1.5 to 2.5 inches with locally higher possible)
The risk of severe storms for much of north and central Georgia has the highest potential along and south of I-20.

Periods of heavy rainfall will lead to an increased risk of flooding in creeks and streams and localized flash flooding, the National Weather Service warned.

Another round of severe weather is possible Wednesday ahead of a cold front with an enhanced risk across the northern part of the state.
According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday's forecast still has some uncertainty and hinges on how Tuesday's severe weather event unfolds.
However, damaging winds, hail and tornadoes remains a potential threat for that day, weather forecasters warn.
