  1. The Canton Police Department is searching for a male juvenile missing since April 29. The child, Damani Brathwaite, was last seen at his home on Shipp Street and may currently be around the Jefferson Circle area. No description or age of the missing was given, but the picture posted shows a pre-teen, Black male with a slim build and medium-length hair. If you have any information about the missing child, please reach out to Detective Priest at 770-720-4883. You can see a picture of Brathwaite at the link. (Canton PD via Facebook)
  2. Another child has gone missing from the area, and the Canton Police Department has put out a request for help. The juvenile, Marley Boehringer, was last seen on April 30 at 11:02 p.m. at the Country Inn Suites. The missing is a white female, 5-foot-6 inches tall and 110 pounds with red hair and brown eyes. 3. The City of Canton has published the News & Updates newsletter for this month, and inside, you'll find details about several huge events coming our way. Besides updates on Taste of Canton, the River Rock Concert and Festival and this weekend's First Friday celebration, the city has announced the return of the Summer Family Movie Series at the Historic Canton Theatre. The movies will be shown on Thursdays and this year there will be separate showings in Spanish. The fun starts on June 1 with "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish," and the last movie in the series is "Lightyear" on July 27. You can learn more about the movies and purchase tickets at the link. 4. When a delivery driver got into a wreck on Tuesday, responders came to the rescue in more ways than one. Responders arrived at the scene and made sure everyone was OK, and upon learning that one of the drivers was on his way to make a grocery delivery, Fire Apparatus Operator Matt Perry and Sheriff Frank Reynolds made that delivery instead. There were no injuries reported in the accident, and the groceries made it to their intended porch. (WSB-TV and Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services via Facebook)
  5. If you ever need to be rescued from a precarious spot in the outdoors, Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) has the rope skills to get the job done. Eleven firefighters participated in a week-long Rope Rescue Technician class last month and built their knowledge on the tools, methods and techniques involved in rescuing and recovering people in varying terrain. From mechanical systems to knots to securing the victim, the class learned it all, making us all safer for their efforts. (CCFES News)
