Verizon Armed Robbery Remains Under Investigation
The subject tied up an employee, and stole several iPhones, iPads and Google Pixel phones, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office said.

CANTON, GA — Investigators with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office continue to work the case of an armed robbery reported last week at a Verizon Wireless store in the Hickory Flat community. Deputies were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. Dec. 21 to the store at 6124 Hickory Flat Highway in Canton.
An armed male subject wearing black pants, a gray hoodie, black gloves and a ski mask walked into the store, tied up the lone employee, and stole several Apple iPhones, iPads and Google Pixel phones from the safe, the sheriff's office previously said.
Sheriff's Office Cpl. Joshua Watkins said detectives are working with agencies that have reported similar robberies to see if they are related.

In June, a strikingly similar robbery was reported at Verizon Wireless at 3753 Marietta Highway in Canton. In that case, an armed man entered the store, tied a female employee's hands and feet, placed her into a back room and took cell phones from the store.

The employee, who was working alone at the time of the incident, was able to free herself and call 911. She did not report any injuries in the incident. Canton Police Chief Mark said his investigators have not generated any new leads in the case, but they are working with the sheriff's office to see if its most recent case is connected to the June robbery.
