Editor's note: Yesterday's original edition of the Canton-Sixes Daily incorrectly listed the Santa Claus appearances at the Cannon Park Gazebo as happening on Sundays instead of Saturdays. The correct dates are today (Dec. 3), Dec. 10, and Dec. 17. The article has since been corrected and we apologize for any confusion this error may have caused.

Here are the top five stories in Canton-Sixes today:

  1. Election Day in Georgia is fast approaching, and it's shaping up to be one for the history books - here's what to expect. The Senate runoff election will determine whether Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock will maintain his position, or whether Republican challenger Herschel Walker will walk away as the victor. The runoff election will occur a mere four weeks after the general election - a change from the runoff that happened back in 2020. The polls will close at 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 6. (U.S. News & World Report)
  2. The Cherokee County Fire Department will be adding new Paratech equipment to the department. The Paratech equipment is specifically designed to lift and stabilize heavy objects, which can prove essential in a crisis. This will allow firefighters and emergency workers to more effectively assist in vehicular accidents, machinery crises, and other dangerous situations. 3. The Cherokee Family Violence Center is hiring. Open positions include a full-time child advocate and full-time multicultural advocate. The organization is devoted to helping those affected by domestic violence. Visit this link to learn how to apply. (CherokeeFamilyViolenceCenter via Instagram)
  4. A Cherokee County local is singing his way to the top of NBC's hit show, "The Voice." Bryce Leatherwood has made it to the top eight in the singing competition show. In Monday's episode, Leatherwood crooned "Sand in My Boots" by Morgan Wallen. His performance earned him enough votes to automatically advance to the next round.
