  1. Severe storms continue to rage across the southern United States, with several states reporting power outages. Roughly 11 million people throughout Georgia and Florida are still under the very real threat of tornadoes. Three people in Louisiana have already been killed by the storm. Georgia may also see some snow this weekend, on top of the already rough weather. (BBC)
  2. Cherokee County Commission Chair Harry Johnston and Commissioners Steve West and Corey Ragsdale were sworn in on Tuesday night. Each will serve new four-year terms for the county.   3. This week, recruits and incumbent Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services firefighters are participating in an intense ropes class. Held at the Cherokee County Fire Training Complex, the class is taught by departmental Rope Technicians. The 48-hour program teaches students how to use anchor systems while working with complex rope systems. The course will conclude with a written test and practical exam for the students.   4. Enjoy some seasonal nostalgia at the R.T. Jones Memorial Library! Staff will be showing 'The Polar Express' at Nostalgia Night. Set for Dec. 21, teens are encouraged to wear their favorite pajamas and slippers for a cozy night. There will be snacks and hot chocolate to enjoy while everyone watches the movie.
