Goodwill to Host Free Speed-Networking Lunch

During Goodwill Industries International Week, which is May 6 to 11, the local Goodwill is hosting a free speed-networking lunch.

From noon to 1:30 p.m., attendees are set for lunch, participation in a raffle and networking with other business people in the community.

Goodwill Industries International Week is the time of year stores across the country plan events to celebrate the company's mission and partnerships.

The local in August opened its Career Center . Free and open to the public, the center offers computers with Internet connections, phones and fax machines, and a copier.

It provides assistance to job seekers through classes, job postings and fairs, and more. The career center, which is inside the thrift store, has interview rooms and other facilities, and provides assistance to companies set to hire employees.

Networking Tips for Participants

• Bring plenty of business cards.

• Set a goal to follow up with at least three of the people you meet at the event. 

• Revisit your "elevator speech" before the event and be sure to include recent business achievements.
