Police Shooting Kills Armed Man During Cartersville Standoff: GBI
Though deputies tried using less-lethal foam and pepper rounds, the GBI said the man pointed a gun toward authorities.
CARTERSVILLE, GA — A 39-year-old Cartersville man was killed in a police standoff and shooting around 4:45 p.m. Monday at a home on GA-20 Spur, authorities said Tuesday.
Authorities with the State Fire Marshals’ Office and the Bartow County Sheriff's Office had arrived at the home to execute a search warrant related to a death investigation, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.
When they arrived, the GBI said Dylan Burl Rice refused to exit the home. Authorities deployed flashbangs into the home, and Rice then exited through the backdoor with an apparent shotgun or rifle, the GBI said.
