Pedestrian Struck, Killed on Highway 41
The Cartersville man wearing dark jeans and a black shirt walking near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive later died in surgery at Kennestone Hospital.

A motorist about 1:35 this morning struck a pedestrian wearing dark jeans and a black shirt, who appeared to have improperly crossed the highway, Cartersville Police Department Chief Thomas Culpepper said in a news release.
The man hit by a McDonald's worker on Highway 41 near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Kennestone Hospital, but died in surgery.
Authorities say given the weather conditions and his dark clothing, the pedestrian, a Cartersville resident, was not visible to the motorist. Police have not released the victim's name, pending notification of next of kin.

The driver, who police say was heading to work, had been traveling northbound on Joe Frank Harris Parkway and started to enter the turn lane to turn left at McDonalds.
Excessive speed was not involved and the motorist was not cited, according to police.
