Atlanta City Studio is Leaving Ponce City Market
Pop-up design laboratory that brainstorms the plight of city neighborhoods will relocate to Cascade in April, says Mayor Kasim Reed.

ATLANTA, GA -- Midtown's Atlanta City Studio, a pop-up design laboratory focused on urban planning for the city's neighborhoods, is relocating to Cascade Heights in April, the city said this week.
The studio opened in Ponce City Market last May to much fanfare. The new location will be 2311 Cascade Road in southwest Atlanta, the city said.
The studio influences city policy when it comes to urban planning, also serving as a brainstorming hub for designers and urban planners.

βWe are excited to move the Atlanta City Studio to Cascade Heights and engage with residents in Southwest Atlanta,β said Mayor Kasim Reed. βThe Atlanta City Studio at Ponce City Market has served as an invaluable tool for City of Atlanta planners to gather innovative ideas from local residents, visitors and design professionals. Relocating the studio allows residents in another quadrant to work directly with our city planners to make Atlanta the best possible place to live, work and play.β
The studio was designed to infuse creativity into the city's housing policy, acting as an incubator of ideas and urban design concepts that Atlanta's city planners, architects and transportation professionals could play off. Moving the workspace around, like say Cascade, was something that designers decided upon early on.

The studio at Ponce City Market is currently used to film series, book talks, open forums, urban art presentations and other neighborhood-centric events, the city said.
βTo promote high quality, sustainable and equitable growth and development in Atlanta, the people who live in the City must be a part of every planning aspect conducted by the Department of Planning and Community Development,β Commissioner Tim Keane said in a statement. βThe City of Atlanta understands that community engagement and involvement is an integral part of shaping the future of Atlanta, and the Atlanta City Studio will continue to move around the city to ensure that every community can help guide us.β
