Barnes & Noble Closing Camp Creek Parkway Store

What's opening and shutting in the communities that comprise Cascade Patch.

Barnes & Noble Inc., which has has already announced plans to close 20 stores a year for the next 10 years, will close its Camp Creek shopping center store in July.

The planned closure was discussed at the Cliftondale Community Club's March meeting held earlier this month.

Barnes & Noble did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment Monday, but the chain opened the 24,000-square-foot bookstore July 23, 2003.

At the time, the opening was part of the chain's aggressive growth plan, in part to compete with the Borders Group chain.

But Borders shuttered its outlets in 2011, citing the economy and readers' shift to electronic devices to access books and magazines.
