Atlanta's municipal election season is underway in earnest as a full week's worth of qualifying came to a conclusion on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013.

The following information about upcoming elections, only focuses on the Mayor and City CouncilΒ races in our Cascade Patch area.
MAYOR
Mayor Kasim Reed runs for reelection. Challenged by Al Bartell, Fraser Duke and Glenn Wrightson.

Ceasar Mitchell is running for reelection and is being challenged by Rachele Fruit.
COUNCIL DISTRICT 3
Ivory Young is running for reelection and is being challenged by Patricia Crayton and Rev. Darrion Fletcher. Β According to APN,Β Fletcher has been running a strong campaign. Β

CT Martin has noΒ opposition to hisΒ reelection campaign.

According to APN, "Keisha Lance Bottoms is running for reelection and is being challenged by activist, talkshow host, and frequent public commenter at City Council, Ron Shakir." Β Shakir told APN he was entering the raceΒ because he could not stand to see Bottoms--the least progressive Member of the Council--go unchallenged.

Joyce Sheperd is running for reelection and is being challenged by Michael Johnson [The person who ran for US Congress against John Lewis in 2012].
