Liberated Tech Moves to the Neighborhood and Helps Keep e-Waste from Landfills

You are cordially invited to be a part of a technology cooperative in Atlanta that will have real and positive social and environmental impact.

Cascade Patch has just learned that just over a month ago, Liberated Tech moved into a location in Southwest Atlanta as they begin to launch their non-profit initiative. Β The official launch date is tentatively July 20th.

Liberated Tech is a nonprofit technology cooperative, who says theirΒ mission is to keep Metro Atlanta's e-waste out of landfills and raise environmental awareness while giving people access to affordable or free computers and tech training.Β

The group openedΒ in early June at Freeside, which is a non-profit organization, that provides a space that inspires collaboration, creativity, teaching, and open projects for the Atlanta community, off of Metropolitan Pkwy.Β

Liberated Tech says this is a temporary workspace and donation center that Freeside has kindly offered while we fundraise and search for our permanent home.

According to a press statement form the company, they will:

  1. Provide free computers and free tech training to people in exchange for community service.
  2. Grant computer equipment to nonprofits and schools.
  3. Offer free or very low-cost tech training to the public.
  4. Sell very affordable refurbished computers in our Thrift Store.
  5. Provide a convenient recycling center for e-waste open to the public
Liberated Tech isΒ actively seeking board members, staff volunteers and equipment donations to help them get started, but they also want Atlantans to know that they intend to be a valuable resource.
