UPDATE: Man Found on Laurelmont Drive Dies From Injuries
Police continue to canvass the neighborhood for witnesses to the incident.

Atlanta Police have confirmed that a man was found lying on the ground with injuries onΒ Laurelmont Drive near Benjamin E. Mays Drive around 1:30 am on Friday morning.
Officer Kim Jones told Cascade PatchΒ that units responded "to a 911 call of a male injured at the location and upon arrival located a male unresponsive with severe head injuries."
It was first reported that the man was possibly a pedestrian involved in a hit-and-run.
Police now sayΒ it "appeared the male had been assaulted with an unknown object and had suffered major head trauma." Β
According to Jones, "due to the victim's severe head injuries, physical identification was very difficult. Swelling to the victim face prevented a positive identification from being made."
Grady Hospital later confirmed theΒ victim had succumbed to his injuries.Β
Investigators continue to canvas the neighborhood. Β The victim's identity has not been released to the public at this time.
