SCAD Buzz Bus Surprises KIPP Strive Students with New Art Supplies
Surprise, Surprise from the SCAD Buzz Buss
The SCAD Buzz Bus delivered a large surprise donation of new and gently used art supplies to students at KIPP Strive Primary School this pastΒ Friday, Nov. 15.
SCAD staff, students and Art the Bee surprised the schoolβs art teacher, Eric Mack, with new supplies provided by Follett and gently used art supplies from SCADβs summer program ranging from paint brushes and craft supplies to construction paper and colored pencils. The donation took place in honor of America Recycles Day, a nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the U.S.
SCAD student ambassadors visited each classroomΒ to hand-deliver appreciation gifts to each teacher for being a great leaderΒ in the classroom. According to a released statement, "students also discussed the importance of showing loveΒ for the community through recycling, classroom leadership and creative careers."Β

In the release, Cascade Patch learned thatΒ The Buzz Bus program, which SCAD President Paula Wallace established in 2010, has positively impacted nearly 6,000 children since its inception. The SCAD Buzz Bus makes surprise visits to local elementary and middle schools and other youth-centered organizations to promote art education through one-on-one student workshops, book readings, musical performances and art-supply donations.
